Surroundings and activities
Hotel *** Strachanovka – Jánska koliba is suited in Liptovský Ján, part Jánska walley, that lays in beautiful region Liptov. Liptov is famous because of its beauty of landscape and its great possibilties not only for relax and vacations but for sport activities as well. You can ski, do cycloturism, skialpinism or different water sports.
Undoubtdedly the best relax is in thermal parks. The are 7 thermal well springs in Liptovský Ján where the most interesting is spring Rudolf. This weel spring is used for filling water to swimming-pools at the thermal spa in Liptovský Ján (it is 500m far from our pension). There are some more thermal parks in Liptov – AquaPark Tatralandia and ThermalPark Bešeňová.
There is a nearly suited water dam Liptovská Mara from our pension. It affords opportunity for funn and relaxing or making some water sports in autocamp Liptovský Trnovec that lays at north side of Liptovská Mara. You can swimming, surfimg, yachtimg, windsurfing here or you can voyage on a boat called Liptov.
If you love tourism, you can do trips to beautifiul valleys in Small and West Tatras (Jánska walley, Demänovská walley and Jasná, Važecká walley, Žiarska walley, Bobrovecká walley …) or you can make a trip to show summits of our mountains – Ďumbier, Chopok, Prašivá, Kráľova Hoľa … There are also 3 caves you can visit. They are Demänovská Liberty Cave and Demänovská Ice Cave in Damänovská walley and Važecká Cave in Važec walley.
In winter you can go skiing to ski downhills. Other ski centers with great downhills and lifts are in Jasná – the biggest slovak ski centre – it is about 20 km far from us.
